Minecon was an annual event, where the mojang team gave speeches and talked about their future plans, each year it was held in a different place (like a festival). Now it's not called Minecon anymore but it's called Minecraft Live, and it's held every year on the minecraft youtube channel! The event lasts a few hours and there is talk of future plans for the next versions of the game.
