Many 'trip' reports say that Mirtazapine causes hallucinations at high doses and vivid and lucid dreams at lower doses, which I would say could be used recreational. I even read on Erowid about some guy and 5 of his friends taking 10mg each of Mirtazapine each and each of them experienced hallucinations.

Just have a read if anyone is interested. Without Mirtazapine's antagonization of many the aforementioned serotonin receptors, the extra serotonin from amphetamine is likely one of the guilty parties in the anxiety, paranoia and paradoxical effects some stim users experience. However mirtazapine does appear to block the effects of lsd, I recently took a tab and it did literally nothing for me and all the other people who took the same tabs were totally tripping. whats the difference between the two? I know Mirtazapine is the newer version of mianserin but is it more potent or not?
Final Thoughts
I know Mirtazapine isn't a very commonly abused substance, and I can't see it becoming one. It's a tetracyclic antidepressant, albeit with somewhat specific receptor activity, and with moderate sedative effect. I orally consumed one Apotex brand 15mg tablet, in order to get a specific idea of... I think mirtazapine will end up having a wide range of uses in the future. Its already been shown to be useful as an ADJUNCT to anti-psych treatment because it can treat movement disorder side effects caused by the atypical meds and anecdotally as an acute treatment for serotonin syndrome.
